TCNJ Maymester in Australia – May-June 2012

ENG 470 and IDS 470 (1 unit, Liberal Learning Elective in Literary, Visual and Performing Arts; Global)

Program Director: Dr. Michael Shenoda, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering

No Pre-Requisites, Language Requirements, or GPA Restrictions – Open to all students (including current first-year students)

Sustainable Engineering is a collaboration between TCNJ and Globalinks Learning Abroad – AustraLearn, EuroLearn, and AsiaLearn.  Students will apply for this program by completing both a TCNJ study abroad application for faculty-led programs and the online form at AustraLearn.

The program will include many site visits to locations with sustainable engineering practices and to several of Australia’s leading universities that study sustainability and engineering, as well as a number of cultural activities. Site visits, cultural tours, and excursions are projected to be: Sydney walking tour, Sydney Tower, Olympic Park technical insights tour, Powerhouse Museum, Murray One hydroelectric power station, desalination and wastewater treatment plants, Steelworks, Green Building Council, Blue mountains excursion, Canberra Sustainable House, Lamington National Park, Great Barrier Reef boat trip and excursions, and visits to several of Australia’s leading universities for lectures and tours.
