International Insurance

All students studying in another country must have international health insurance. Sometimes this is included as part of the program cost and sometimes this will need to be purchased additionally through TCNJ.

However, NO STUDENT should purchase international health insurance individually, as TCNJ requires all students who need insurance to be enrolled in the TCNJ Group Plan. The TCNJ Center for Global Engagement will contact you via e-mail with the enrollment information.

To determine if you need to purchase international health insurance through TCNJ, please review the information below as it pertains to your particular program:

AustraLearn, CAPA, CIEE, EuroLearn, IFSA-Butler, ISA, TEAN:

Students attending programs offered through CIEE and ISA will receive insurance as part of their program cost and DO NOT need to purchase additional insurance.

TCNJ Programs:*

Students attending TCNJ programs MUST purchase international health insurance through TCNJ. TCNJ programs include:

  • Exchange Programs and Direct Enrollment Programs
  • Global Student Teaching
  • Faculty-Led Programs
SFS :*

Students attending programs offered through SFS programs MUST purchase international health insurance through TCNJ


*International Health Insurance Through TCNJ:

The insurance that students will be purchasing through TCNJ is HTH Insurance..

If a student is required to purchase this insurance, the TCNJ Center for Global Engagement will contact that student via e-mail with instructions

International Student Identity Card (ISIC)

Students may also purchase the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), which provides students abroad with discounts and services in addition to supplemental travel insurance.

What is ISIC?

ISIC is an identification card that offers students an insurance plan, discounts to more than 30,000 locations in 103 countries, and an emergency help-line.

ISIC’s aim is to help facilitate student mobility, educational exchanges and travel, and encourage the dissemination of knowledge of other lands, cultures and systems as to increase international understanding.

Applying for ISIC:

Students should bring the following to Green Hall 111 if they are required to purchase an ISIC card:

  • Copy of driver’s license
  • Copy of Student ID
  • 1 Passport-Sized Color Photo
  • ISIC Enrollment Form
  • Check for $22 made out to TCNJ (paid to Student Accounts)

 

Students who are required to purchase this card will be contacted via e-mail & given a deadline to submit their application materials
